QANTAS

QANTAS recently overcharged me $100, because their website melted down and had errors, basically. They gave me a $100 voucher. I tried to use it in booking a flight and found out I have to book online to use it. Here's the rub - they charge an extra $50 when you book on the phone. So, the value of the voucher is halved.

There's a $50 fee for speaking to a human instead of booking online.

I think the confusion which Tom expressed (wow, you can tell I was just in a meeting) is that you can only use it online, yet you are complaining the you are being charged $50 for booking it via the phone. If you book it online (as you apparently must), do you not avoid that extra $50 you would have incurred had you booked on the phone? Book online, save $100... sounds simple. Or, must you communicate with someone on the phone after you book online?

Oh, I got it backwards. I have to book on the phone to use it.

The part that confused me was that you said you could only use the coupon online, so I don't understand how it would be worth anything when you speak to a human (so it would not even be worth 50%). I guess I missed something. Edit: Read the rest of the thread. Now I understand.
