Software crashs under Windows 7, new UI
-
Hi, I was testing one of my applications regarding crash reports on Windows 7. I recognised some changes compared to Windows XP. When an application crashes it shows two new dialogs to the user: First a progress bar "checking for a solution to the problem" and then "Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available" (screenshots from Internet). Couldn't find a lot of information about Windows Error Reporting. Somebody knows what it tries to do while "checking for a solution"? Is Windows sending information to Microsoft without users' consent? Thanks!

Have a look at: Does "Windows is checking for a solution..." actually do anything?. :)

This is going on my arrogant assumptions. You may have a superb reason why I'm completely wrong. -- Iain Clarke

[My articles]Thanks for the info! Looks like Microsoft Windows is massively phoning home, no user information, obsolete privacy statements (via control panel)... scary.
