Ok what about a physics related article

I just posted an article for a physics related application, the only interesting point for programmers may be the use of the VTK 3D libraries, but I hope Chris being an ex astrophysicist would be happy about my post of a physical more than programmer oriented article. What do you think? It will be of interest to you an article explaining how to solve a physical problem about diffraction gratings?
The first thing that's wrong with the article is that the source code is not hosted here on CP. I know you've provided a link to a SourceForge project, but Chris likes the whole article to be in the control of CP. That way, if SourceForge changes the URL, the article won't be broken. If you host the source of the application this article relates to here on CP, I'll be more than happy to release your article into the wild.

The question is which one? I hosted the code on SourceForge and added some links to it from wikipedia, but I found no physics related stuff forum for MFC applications ... Hence, in the hope to be forgiven by some ex-physicist (i.e. C. Maunder) I'm publishing it here to have a place where it could be found by interested readers. Unfortunately there is no SAL (Scientific Applications on Linux) equivalent for Windows that I'm aware of... if you do know such a site I'd be happy if someone provides a link to it.

So start one! Just don't call it SAW or two things will happen: 1) All your members will die horrible deaths. and 2) You will get sued into abject poverty.

The problem is that the code in itself takes more than the 6 Mb of space allowed. As sourceforge is not likely to change anytime in the future it seemed to me more sensible to host the code in a proper repository as SourceForge than the one given in CP. (SourceForge has got also subversion). I may add the complete code if the 6 Mb limit is relaxed. But I thought it would be fine to host on SourceForge as it will never be closed down nor unreachable.

Chris has asked other users in the past to host the software locally. Is your code really bigger than 6MB? That seems surprising - remove the binaries from the code, and put a link to the external binaries in; this is normally deemed acceptable.

Done. Without the libraries is acceptable at 760Kb.

That reminds me about when I worked for Granada back in the 80's. We had a manager (not a tech manager it should be noted), who was concerned about data security. I explained that every evening I ran a full system back-up.(This was an AS400 onto a tape drive, so it took AGES!) And that every Friday night I mirrored all data to an external data library. HE asked me, and I shit you not, "But what would happen if the external library was destroyed as well as us, like if there was a nuclear bomb?" I looked at him, and quietly said "If there was a nuclear bomb, then you're on your own , because I sure as hell won't be coming into work!". It was at that moment he realised what he had said and everybody laughed.

You should give it a fighting chance of being noticed. By giving it a 5, you get it into the best articles list where others are more likely to notice it.
