WP7 in the UK

Where would one buy an unlocked (sim free) WP7 in the UK? I have had a look at the phones over the weekend and I now know I want one. Badly. The thing is that everywhere I asked, they only sell them on contract...

I'd hang fire for a least 6-8 months, wait until the initial demand slopes off and you'll get one £100 cheaper.

The Wise One has spoken! And you are, of course, right. It was ever thus, the Neophiles will always rush out and get 'The Latest Thing' at a high price and with all the inherent faults. I always wait a while, see the price fall and the upgrades and patches kick in.

I'd love a WP7, but there's no way my wife will let me throw ~£400 at a new phone. I'll sit back and wait until the prices see the £100 mark.

I've done that with Android. I was thinking of buying the Google G1 when it came out, but I decided to wait for a bit. The the HTC Hero came out. I waited for a price drop, but then HTC Desire hit the shops. So 2 years later I still use my old dumbphone. With WP7 I'm gonna take the plunge. One advantage over Android is that software updates will be pushed directly by MS to all devices, independently of the manufacturer. This should considerably delay the moment when a WP7 device is considered superseded.

If you're on O2, they're doing the HD7 for £380 on PAYG. Locked but if you're on O2 you should just be able to pop your own SIM in. Cheapest price I've seen so far, I'm so tempted but I'm determined to hang on til around Feb.

I want a HTC HD7 but is only available on a O2 contract. I have a specific requirement, main remote support for Windows Servers, therefore I need a large screen and RDP. I also need the device on Vodafone network as my company has a group plan with Vodafone. Oh well, just have to wait I guess :sigh:

As mentioned below, they're on O2's website for £380 on PAYG, at the very most they will be SIM locked to O2, which normally costs no more than a tenner to get unlocked. It may even be the case that they're not locked at all at the moment.
