Awesome! Although the DNA and smallest transistor size didn't seem proportional.

I still don't understand how they can measure the outside universe when they only have an estimate of what the speed of light was right after the Big Bang. Plus, what's outside that?

Supposedly the universe expanded at a much faster rate than speed of light during the big bang because the fabric of space itself is expanding. So even if something has no kinetic energy it is still moving relative to its surroundings because of the stretching of spacetime.

True, but if other big bangs occurred outside our universe, and they have different light speeds and strengths, then maybe the universe is infinite and size is just an illusion dependent on light/sight. I wonder if the distance between protons and neutrons or quarks is constant before and after the big bank? In which case, we need another unit of measurement that is not dependent on the speed of light. Of course, it will take an order of magnitude longer to measure distances using such a tiny scale.

An even greater question is how something can exist at all.

What ever you want, possibly this is where all the gods live. As light, our primary sense and the best long range tool we have has not traveled that far (ignoring the variable speed thing) then what is out there can only be subject of speculation. Such speculation is a total waste of time, like day dreaming and other non productive but enjoyable pastimes.
