7 months and it's been a struggle but worth it. But I smoked off and on for 45 years!

I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me. http://www.hq4thmarinescomm.com[^]

Hey congratulations! It's been over 9 months for me and I smoked mostly on for about 25 years.

Goodluck, when I quit smoking I got an insatiable hunger and gained 20 pounds which I've yet to shed. I also drank a lot more for a short period. When my friends would light up at a bar or party, I would just drink more to distract myself.

Yup exactly the same for me 20 pounds and drinking a *lot* more at parties.

Thanks you too! It's a hard habit to kick. The only reason I was able to quit this time with reasonable success is that I quit drinking several years ago and you can't do one without the other.

I chalk it up to cold turkey and the actual desire to quit this time for serious and not just as a "I really should quit" kind of thing like I did a million times before. Ironically though I drank like a fish for months at every opportunity to help me quit and I think it really did help a lot.

Everybody has a system to quit and for you drinking helped. I quit years ago for 8 years but stress finally overtook me and I started again.

Sounds like quitting smoking was pretty easy for you. Do you think you could do the same with that nasty bad habit of cussing!?

              It wasn't easy at all.

As far as the cussing goes, I use it as I think is appropriate, based on the emphasis required and the audience.
