Considering a slight deviation in my career interest
-
I want to be a top-notch barrister. I've been watching a LOT of Boston Legal lately, so I think I'm in with a shot ;) Ok, I have been watching Boston Legal, and I know it's a drama so it's probably not the most authentic representation of the legal profession (just guessing here ;P ). Anybody know anything about it? If I love the thrill of bending rules and framing issues in order to weasel my way out of a losing argument, and I have the required arrogance of the position, is it worth 4 years in Uni plus internships or whatever? PS If anyone knows specifically what it's like in Aus that would be even more helpful.

First of all, you need to be able to bill people at £1000 an hour and not feel guilty. Second you need to be able to quote Shakespeare and Chaucer and Tennyson etc. Third you need a wife who must be obeyed. Glass eyes are optional.

No issue here. No issue at all.

What does a famous bicyclist, a hawker and a wild west hero have to do with lawyering? (maybe a little reading required... ;P)

Did you mean a wife to obey me? I thought that's what they were for?

If you think it'll improve my chances. So, did I get the job?
