Do you think giving it the oxygen of publicity helps? I'm not a censorship freak; I can't see that it helps to drive any discussions underground. I think it does honour CP to allow such discussions, in a suitable forum, where anyone including yourself can add a logical and reasoned rebuttal. It is when discussion of certain subjects is forbidden without good reason that the freedom to speak, and think are eroded. A greater crime in my mind than ill-reasoned ranting intended only to start a flame war.
Real men don't use instructions. They are only the manufacturers opinion on how to put the thing together.
You are the only one who has a point here. I just made the mistake to have too high opinion for the people in the Lounge so far. No more such mistakes. Just the usual mediocre mob as any other internet forum.

Thanks, I figured out this some time ago. Just a little spark of insanity when someone declares that your nation has spared the sodomy in the world basing his conclusion on some invented for the case semantics. My hope that someone here gives a shit – this was REALLY stupid from my side.

Now see the thread in the soapbox and replace Bulgarians with Indians. How it feels? And don’t play me the card with “don’t bring this here”. You see, I'm using my brains. So, can I ask you to get off your miserable attempts to insult other people here? ("pathetic", "use your brain", etc.,) My sentiments would have remained the same if Bulgarians were replaced with Indians - my point was simple: Don't talk about this trash in the lounge. Which means "I'm playing the same card". Does that feel better? And I don't see the point in you 'worrying' too much about this just because some random person on the internet associated Bulgaria with something crappy. I had good respect for you, and I think you were (are) a nice fellow to talk with and I bet many others have the same feeling. However, I think that we should just drop this argument (or you could continue it with others at soapbox instead here). I wouldn't want to take this "issue" up any further for discussion.

Nice, I suggest you learn to how to read: This is exactly how the word was derived in the 10th Century. I don't and never believed that "Bulgarians invented sodomy" or even practised (or practise) it more than anyone else, but gave you the original mediaeval (and I hesitate to use the word) "logic" of how the word arrived in the English language. I stated this all this quite clearly in my post, if you don't like where it comes from, then that is your look out. My sources for this ? An ex-girlfriend who was a mediaeval historian told me this years ago, and it's all there in Wikipedia if you care to look, and partially in the Oxford English Dictionary. The upvotes could be for one of a few things: 1) Knowing the derevation of the word. 2) Pointing out all Oakman did was give you an etymology of the word: you took it personally, got upset and started an argument. 3) Telling you clearly that you shouldn't try and get validation for your petty vendetta here. So get your facts straight and get an education before getting abusive.

As far as I understood from his explanation, it is not at all what he said. What I understood from his explanation is that they were considered heretics by the church at that time (like everybody who didn't fully agree with their views). So, the church propably accused them of having inverted sexual practices. He never said that Bulgarians invented sodomy, only that they were named like that because of the church.
