My condolences. :rose: My father died 5 months ago and I hadn't talked to him in almost 10 years. His wife called me the day before he passed and told me that he was asking to see me. I didn't go to see him. I didn't feel the need to "forgive" him on his deathbed. He had liver cancer and had been in touch with my sister months before he was hospitalized and never mentioned speaking to me. He was a complete bastard but when I heard he had passed I grieved for the father he could have been.

You're a father, right? Somtimes a bad example is more useful than a good one.

But regardless of that, you have my sympathies because regardless of the above quote, you have some feelings on the matter or you wouldn't have posted that here. All the best to you

        I wasn't, now I am, then I won't be anymore.

Actually I dont have any feelings on the matter, I posted merely because it made an amusing finale to the dead rabbits post.

My father died six months after I was born. I envy you.

We have had it out between us, and arrived at a civil, even almost respectfull relationship, but never love. That died little by little over the long years of my childhood.

Along the lines of how PK Dick's writing was once described. (Paraphrased) Your wife leaves you, you lose your job, the bank is about to repossess your car...and then Martians land in your back yard. Pretty sure it was about Phil...

That is short yet profound. Very profound.

I am fortunate to have had a great Dad. He passed away in '89 and I still miss him.
