From Conan's show: Congress is proposing a bill that would give President Obama a kill switch that he could use to freeze all activity on the Internet if there were a national emergency. The kill switch goes by the top-secret name Microsoft Windows.

Nice. Did Obama really propose a kill switch? Reminds me of the revolution going on in Egypt. The internet there was taken offline and Obama urged the Egyptian government to restore it. Crazy times.

Just another "Do as we say, not as we do." policy.

All the "windoze is teh suck" was pretty funny back in XP pre-SP2, and then the "Vista blows" was a good way to let off steam, but isn't it a little last decade? I've worked extensively on Win7 and MacOS and I can tell you I have never swore as loudly, as passionately, or as often and with such inventiveness as I have while battling the Mac. Oh yes, it all just works. That is, until it doesn't anymore. Even the much maligned Outlook has not skipped a beat for me, but I regularly have Mail on the iPad and iPhone lock up, fall over, and then proceed to wipe all my email and start from scratch downloading it all. I'm not defending Windows - I'm just saying let's broaden our horizons.

Just step up to *nix and virtualize everything else. Create a share on your *nix then let your virtual os images save your files to the shares. This is perfect harmony. If your virtual os gets buggy just create a new image.

They switch off the international conection, that's not an internet kill switch.

Ourselves: we think VMWare is pretty easy for that stuff.

Well, actually it's time to start. otherwise we'll all end up with one of two extremes (Mac or Linux) instead of the mainstream choice that actually always works. Generally speaking in a broad sense that is.
