I know there have been previous threads about this, but couldn't find a satisfactory answer, so I'm posting anew. I'm looking for a third party app to extend the Windows 7 task bar onto the secondary monitors. The ones I came across are Actual Multi monitor, Ultramon and DisplayFusion. Anyone used any of these before and have any opinions? I'd also gladly hear out other suggestions. I have 3 monitors, 1 driven by VGA, and the other two split over DVI. I can live with having the primary display on the right most ( as I use the Windows 7 Show Desktop button very often ), but would like to try some that extends the taskbar. Since this is a work system, I'm not willing to try out the trial(s) unless I receive some good recommendation. Thanks.

I have been using Ultramon for many years. Very stable, no problems. Highly recommended.

      Best wishes, Hans

Thank you. I have the trial now. I'm waiting for a DVI splitter to ship so that I can test out in 3 displays.

I've switched to display fusion with win7 after using ultramon for years on XP and vista. None of the multimonitor taskbars I've tried have fully copied the win7 bar yet. DF and UM both roughly copy the classic style behavior, while Task Se7en[^] had a decent implementation of the quicklaunch style. Neither DF or UM are feature complete on their bar style but DFs limitations annoyed me less than UMs. I never heard of AMM before today, but will give it a spin in the next few days to see how it works. Edit: Looked at the Task Se7en site, and it looks like they've implemented classic style taskbar items too. Probably need to given them another spin as well...

Thanks Dan. Share your feedback on AMM and the latest Task Se7en when you tested them as well. I'm gonna start trying DF first. T7 is still WIP and am hesitant to try that in my primary dev machine.

Although they're stable UM and DF are defacto WIP for win7 since they only support a fraction of the current taskbar features; more seriously the dev rate on both is negligible at present. In both cases I suspect they were someone's side project and they no longer have the time they did years ago. The one advantage I'd give UM over DF is licensing. I have multimonitor systems at home and work, I only needed to buy one license of UM, but needed 2 for DF. :sigh:
