A British muslim visits Yemen[^]. "To be honest, I've realised how glad I am that I live in England." It shows we have no idea about many countries and what goes on.

And this is the Islamic Paradise that the extremists want for us. I know several muslims who are, quite frankly, sick of the whole thing. One, who I work with, has her daughters going to uni, one of which wants to be a doctor. When they visit family in Karachi they are constantly bombarded with requests for money, marriage or help with visas because they do not wish to live there. They are always glad to just get back home. This is the trouble. We, in the west, have a better life because we don't waste so much of it on imaginary friends, and get on with improving things, and have new ideas about the way things should be done. Islam is very strict about the way things should be done and therefore does not evolve. Until it does, these people's lives will never improve.

I'd go a little further: it is an oppressive, feudal, backward-looking religion designed to keep it's adherents firmly under control and offers no freedom of thought or deed which is what the west has been built on.

Just like every other religion stemming from judaism and some others that don't. Organized religion only brought death and terror and regression of humanity by trying to control their followers instead of empowering them to think on their own. But I suppose no ruler wants their subjects to think, not even in current democracies, easier to control sheep and fake play fighting your opposing parties dogma :D. Old testament is a mess written by scared savages and the more recent scared savages seem to use that one more than something like the new testament, it's closer to the human nature I suppose. Scared/pissed off animals are not to be toyed with.

Are you talking about God here?

I think you could replace Islam with a lot of things and find your statement to be true in some aspect for those things as well.

Do you think any society likes to be told it's wrong? Aristotle was condemned to death because of it's pigheadedness.
