I wish, someone would teach our users the meaning of RTFM in a reply.

Many years ago I worked on a system that had been created within a Framework that had placed a help icon on every screen, but the help had never actually been implemented so it either did nothing or displayed a placeholder, can't remember which. I always maintained that such a thing would be useful to implement, and if done well would reduce the number of support calls we received. I was always told they had printed manuals, and never bothered to read them so why would in-line help make any difference. So I changed one of the screens to display a pop-up with RTFM on it. A couple of weeks later someone phoned up to complain. I was firstly amazed that one of our users actually knew what it stood for, but also delighted that at least one of them was trying to solve a problem themselves before calling us.

Every man can tell how many goats or sheep he possesses, but not how many friends.
