So I post this question to you all since I grew up being told it is S-Q-L Server and the professors getting upset at hearing Sequal Server or just plain Sequal. Then I get this job here and the younger web developer says it is Sequal, not S-Q-L. I stand by my teaching and still say S-Q-L. You?

For me personally it depends on the mood and the person that I'm talking to.

As barmey as a sack of badgers Dude, if I knew what I was doing in life, I'd be rich, retired, dating a supermodel and laughing at the rest of you from the sidelines.

I know some people who say S-Q-L when they refer to the query language and "Sequel Server" when talking about the Microsoft SQL Server engine.

20 years ago I would have said S-Q-L, now I just say Sequal. Your profs are anal twats: it's just a word.

For me, always SQL. When I hear "sequal" it makes me cringe.

Exactly. These days I just go with the variation of any word that requires the fewest syllables. Especially after having written this message--I will break even in about 58 uses of the word.

You've got a good point there. But I've always said 'aski'. I just can't bring myself to say sequel...habit I guess.
