That's what I'm calling them anyway. Suddenly I'm getting a minimum of 2 calls a day saying in very bad broken English that they have found my resume on Dice and have a great position in my Area if I would just send them a resume. # 1. Wait a damn minute. Didn't you JUST say you found my resume on Dice? # 2. Who are we kiddin here? yes I am in the market for a better job HOWEVER; I am realistic and know that due to my lack of experience so far that Companies like Fed-Ex are not exactly jumping up and down looking for my phone call. I knew this was a long road when I started back to school at the age of 37.(now 40). I knew I wouldn't get a 100k job straight out of school and I would have to work my way up. # 3. How can I get any information when the sucker calling me is not even understandable? for crying out loud when you call somebody who lives in the south, Programmer or not, chances are I have trouble understanding pidgin English over a bad phone connection. #4. 100% of the "companies" that have called me are based clear across the country if not in another one altogether.(the second one really gets me, outsource overseas so the outsourcing company can hire somebody who lives next door to the job????) But in spite of that they have great jobs right here where I live that nobody else knows about locally..... So scam? ID theft? does anybody else deal with this crap suddenly or am I the victim of some random quirk of the ether in the net pulling pranks? Because I for sure don't believe they are legitimate offers. Especially after getting about 30 of them..

No it's not unusual at all. I've had offers close and far away. Seems like they just want to build their database with names to make them look good.

Programming is a race between programmers trying to build bigger and better idiot proof programs, and the universe trying to build bigger and better idiots, so far... the universe is winning.

Most of the "requests" I get are via email. I do get a few via the phone but they are sent to voicemail so I don't end up talking to them. I figured if they are legit, they will send en email too. I totally agree with your argument #1. You just said you got my resume from Dice or Careerbuilder or somewhere. Why do I need to send you another one?
I have nothing more to say.
