Last night, I was reading Transmetropolitan [^] when I heard 2 gunshots coming from outside the front of my house and over about 2 lots (a lot is 25' wide on my block, so that is close). I dove over to my weapon, and peaked out the side window (out of the line of fire from the front of my building, and on the opposite side of where I heard shots). I saw a white Cadillac SUV speeding off. A minute later an unmarked police car flew the wrong way down my street with its siren blaring and all of its spotlights and blue lights on. Then that was it, no more sirens, no investigation, no news stories. I checked for casings this morning in the area and found none (I was curious as to the caliber, sounded like a 9mm from my experience). The scariest part was that I had just finished carrying in groceries from my car on the street about 5 minutes prior.

I would have run outside with my pistols blasting.

One fellow Johannesburger I follow on twitter had a police pursuit operation pass over his driveway the other night. His gate and surrounds have about ten bullet holes/marks.

Stay away from the windows, and don't go outside. If someone comes through your door (or windows), open up on 'em, but don't make yourself a target.

Jesus, I can't imagine living in a country where this is actually pertinent information. Sucks to be you guys and the worst part is you don't even know it. :)

C'mon - you didn't know I was referring to "bad guys" (tm)? Are you sure there's not some family ties to o54m4 somewhere not to far removed on your family tree? Besides all that, MY friends, family, and neighbors know better than to enter my house uninvited.

Nothing from that tree gets very far removed; it's only got one branch, all twisty and tangled with itself.

We already had a discussion hear about running at me with your fist clenched. BANG! You're dead, track-star. :)
