say I have a page with lots of data entered by the user. are there math javascript libraries out there that could do complicated computations accessing the local processor so it doesn't involve a postback?

One would suppose so. I typed 'javascript math library' into google and there were wasn't very much - only 10,100,000 results. Though I'm too lazy to check any of them. Did you find anything when you checked google?
