Ok, everywhere I turn these days I see this thing and now I see that it actually made $33 Million or something? I looked at it once but it didn't seem to appeal to me. I love EVE as my distraction ( Space MMO for those who don't know ) and when I look at this I see visions of my first and only sims experience, five hours that at the end all I could think was, what the hell have I been doing. Am I missing something here? And how does a beta game/application make $33 Million? :wtf:

I think it's "beta" in the same way that GMail was "beta" for so long... So if something goes wrong, they can just say "Sorry, it's still in beta". I've looked at Minecraft now and then... Watched the videos, browsed the wikis... But I haven't tried it yet. I mean maybe if they had a playable demo (The free version is more like a construction kit than a game, from what I've read), then I might try it, but I'm not going to spend more than 5-10 bucks on a game unless I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy it.

I am at work right now, but looking for 'Skyrim' on Google should bring a few results.

Author of the Guardians Saga (Sci-Fi/Fantasy novels)For cheap games (read $2.99 - $9.99) have a look at Gog.com[^] The games aren't the newest, but there is some seriously playable stuff in there, DRM free so no CD/DVD required and most Wednesday and weekends they do specials. Yesterday was Painkiller for $3.99, but they did Serious Sam a few weeks ago, which is well worth a play!
Real men don't use instructions. They are only the manufacturers opinion on how to put the thing together. Manfred R. Bihy: "Looks as if OP is learning resistant."

I've picked up a few good specials, even today Steams got AVP going for $4 and change plust two DLC at $1.87. Gonna put on the headphones and have heartattacks as the marine again :D

Exactly. Looks like we must slay a few dragons this time. Daggerfall, Morrowind and Oblivion still are installed on my machine at home. Normally I am not such a fanboy, but I always liked their free gameplay.

Everybody wastes a bit of ammo in the first level where absolutely no alien appears :)

I just recently heard of GOG, but haven't checked it out yet. I'm a big fan of Steam, actually... Yes, it has some DRM, but it's unobtrusive and invisible, at least as far as I've noticed, so I don't mind at all. Of course, I only* buy games on Steam when they have those 50%/75%/90% off sales... Hard to resist a good game for $5, or even $2.50 for an indie title... I find I spend more money on marked-down games through Steam than I used to spend on $50 titles in the stores. * Well, except for the few I'm looking forward to...

I couldn't get on as the Alien: I lost track of where I was all the damn time. I guess I just don't think well enough in three-D...

I am endeavoring, Madam, to construct a mnemonic memory circuit using stone knives and bearskins - Mr. Spock 1935 and me 2011I played just about every ES I could find but I’m not waiting for skyrim. Heard from rumours that it was going to more like fallout 3... and you don't want to get me started on that. I will probably check up on the latest news about it one of these days and see if it can change my mind about it.

Heh, you should try playing as a Skulk in Natural Selection, this old marines vs. aliens Half-Life 1 mod... Crawling on walls and ceilings, hiding in vents, leaping out of shadows... That was a blast...

Bah, I liked Fallout 3... Though it did get kinda dull and repetitive after a while, I admit. What about Dragon Age: Origins? THAT one was really fun... And Morrigan was voiced by whats-her-name from Farscape and SG-1...
