Just heard "Let it Be" and it reminded me of this old jem:

When I find my code in loads of trouble,
Friends and colleagues come to me,
    Speaking words of wisdom:
    "Write in C."

    As the deadline fast approaches,
And bugs are all that I can see,
    Somewhere, someone whispers:
    "Write in C."

Write in C, Write in C,
Write in C, oh, Write in C.
    LOGO's dead and buried,
    Write in C.

I used to write a lot of FORTRAN,
    For science it worked flawlessly.
    Try using it for graphics!
    Write in C.

If you've just spent nearly 30 hours,
    Debugging some assembly,
Soon you will be glad to
    Write in C.

Write in C, Write in C,
Write in C, yeah, Write in C.
    BASIC's not the answer.
    Write in C.

Write in C, Write in C
Write in C, oh, Write in C.
    Pascal won't quite cut it.
    Write in C.

Funnily, LOGO has been resurrected, to an extent, in SmallBasic.. Microsoft's beginning language adopts LOGO's Turtle graphics. (This is a good thing - I like seeing a simple beginners language that supports simple graphics - good for my lad)

I started my programming in C, and what a pleasure it has been making the transition to other languages such as C#, Java and VB.NET. I apply alot of the things I've learned in C to other languages and 8/10 times it works. The most important feature I've learnt in C I suppose is what I've learned about memory/stack/heap/pointers and gives me an advantage in a manner that when working with another programming language, I've got an idea of what is happening in the background. If I had to be critical I would say, instead of "Write in C", "Think in C to a certain extent (!OOPS)". All and all great poem!

                        Write in C.
