Arrgh! Came out of supermarket, couldnt deactivate the alarm and central locking. Got new battery, inserted it, still dead. Bollocks.:mad: Open car with key, alarm going spastic, etc etc etc (of course no one cares at all, even with me taking my wallet out of it! Makes you wonder what the point of an alarm is). So, much searching about on the internet for various alarm reset posibilities (and why doesnt it reset as soon as you insert the key and turn it?), none of which seem to work. Eventually, after much farting around, bleeping, turning, closing doors, opening them, disconnecting battery, reconecting it, taking wiring loom apart and reconnecting it, I seem to have killed the bastard. The car is now drivable and the alarm is dead. Last time I use the stupid door beepers. Had the same thing with a Peugeot 405 years back, I just unwired the whole alarm system from the car.:mad: Why oh why do they make alarms so stupid? Its not like anyone cares about them because no one pays any attention to a car in broad daylight with te alarm going off and someone sitting in it farting around with the wiring. :wtf: All they are is a sodding liability, and the ONLY thing to have really caused me to break down. (Had a Renault that died once in Bristol, got a taxi to a local motor factors and got a couple of relays for the fuel injection system. I was away in 2 hours.) But a dead alarm, its a pain in the but. Useless things!:mad::mad::mad::mad: The crappy cars only worth £400 anyway. Who the hell would want to steal one!

I had a Jeep once that had a panic alarm... the only way you could stop it was by getting in the car and driving over 15kph... Or wait for the timer to run out!

I used to work with a bloke called Monkey (I presume he had a real name). He went to the supermarket one lunchtime (he was driving his wife's car for some reason I forget), came back and the remote central locking on the car wouldn't work. Tried and tried, nothing doing. Phoned us up, said he would be late back. We sent someone down to give him a lift back to work if he needed it, there he could work out what to do for the best. Breakdown, locksmith, whatever. He then phoned his wife to tell her about the problem. She said "Are you using the right key?". He also had his car keys with him because he needed the other keys on the keyring and had spent half an hour or more trying to open up the car with the wrong car keys. A few months later he drive it square into a two and a half foot bolder that was used to mark out a parking area whilst waving goodbye to someone as he left for home. He was a massive idiot. Deleted loads of our source code by accident one day too, and was forever renaming or dragging directories of source code unintentionally.

get a japanese car. There is no alarm needed - and the technics are so much more reliable. I'll never buy a European car again. Instead I'm looking forward to that Toyota Prius Verso - that would be a cool car. It should be available some when in 2012. regards Torsten

          I never finish anyth...

Because they are too crap to steal? ;P Actually, the wifes Toyota is a pain in the arse too. We had problems with the alarm before. Its old cars. Say the bonet switch moves, or wears out. THe alarm fucks up because that, the door switches and boot lid switch are wired up to it. The system gets into an undeterminate state, and bingo! The problem is no override. Why dont they reset when you put the key in and turn it? Surely if you have the keys you are as likely to have the deactivating fob! So whats the point immobilising it when you have the keys! Its utterly stupid.

The Monkey moniker seems somewhat appropriate then.

              I wasn't, now I am, then I won't be anymore.
