Yet another alleged corruption scandal at the heart of football: Bin Hammam & Jack Warner face Fifa bribery probe[^]. Isn't it time that the home nations quit FIFA? Perhaps start a new organisation? I'm sure that many other countries would follow suit if only we had the courage to walk away from an allegedly acutely corrupt organisation. (I don't believe Lord Triesman[^] would have said what he said without cause).

Show me any organisation that operates across the whole world (and across Africa) that is not corrupt. Would be impossible to operate without that. The FA is corrupt too, they're just less good at it.

I'm amazed that people are amazed that FIFA is corrupt. It is a sport in which cheating is a commonplace part of the game. Diving, Feigning Injury, Pretending to have been struck by opponents etc.

There's an assumption there that any new organisation would not be corrupt. I suspect yuou might be dissapointed with the results. But that small issue aside, yes, I'd be in favour of leaving, if only because I love a good row. I do have a few conditions however. 1. Diving will result in an on the spot public flogging in the center circle. 2. Players who feign injury must be treated as if the injury is real. Grabbing ones head and and rolling 18 times in agony suggests a serious brain injury, doctors will set to work immediately with a power drill into the skull to relieve pressure. 3. Get rid of the offside rule, nobody can look in two places at the same time, and it'll result in more goals. 4. This (My Irishness may be a factor in this one). If a player deliberately handles the ball and is not caught by the ref, but is subsequently found to have done so in video replay, his hand will be cut off. This allows for two breaches of the rule, which is fair. Third strike is a life ban. -Richard

An 'ethics committee' in FIFA is surely the ultimate oxymoron.

Once the ref makes a decision it stands. Any argument and the free kick is moved towards the goal. If that takes it into the box it becomes a penalty. This works so well in rugby, I cannot understand why the toeballers doen't use it.

Tried it, didn't work, some players argued to get the ball moved closer to the goal to make it harder to get the ball up and down and to give them less room to put a ball in. To clear up the game on the pitch all that needs be done is ban TV cameras. Or at least replays. Referees decision is final, don't like it, tough shit - get on with the game. No-one spends hours analysing slow motion replays from countless positions to find out if he was right or wrong (and then still argue about it). Everyone goes to the pub after a game and moans about how they were conned, but are unable to prove it so just get over it and move on to the next game. Football needs less technology, not more of it.

                5. Watch the replays when needed (English will surely like this one)

Like Robbie Keane when he scored for Spurs against Blackburn? Would have made all his appealing of Henry's goal more awkward with just the one hand.

Yes, now you're getting it. This works both ways. Players will think twice about waving frantically at the ref for handball if they have to wave with a stump that reminds everyone of their own past. I think this could really catch on. Plus, how cool would it be to see Maradona with a Hook? Seriously. -Richard

I don't watch much soccer, but from what I have seen, it is a very poorly called sport on the international level.
