I think the problem was that someone spoke forcibly of excessive/binge drinking as if it were a good thing. You might get away with such declarations on a building site, but not in a room full of highly educated people.

I don't think there's necessarily a problem, was just commenting on the general mood of the lounge when I arrived late. Some people like to drink, and some like to judge. To each his own. I try to live by the "everything in moderation" principle, but benders are also good for the soul (not the head though). :)

Moderation be buggered! Life is to be lived to excess (if you miss the chance, you won't get another one). But being excessively drunk ain't living, and it puts an unwanted and unpleasant burden on those around you.
