You must realise that the US is a particularly odd country. Its the only social experiemtn thats actually lasted. Of course you love your country, you have to. You all have to. You all went there form all over Europe in order to MAKE a better country! Of COURSE you have a greater interest in it! Us cynical old Europeans who didnt leave slowly changed our countries politics and systems to something not overly different from yours, but we also live in a very small place with many countries very close to each other and sharing languages customs and aliances across boarders. So what is a country to us? Its a line on a map. I am as close to any other European as I am to any English person. Why should I not defend THEIR country over mine if I felt it was in the right? Many Germans tried to kill Hitler you know. There were 25 attempts on his life in the 10 years he was in power. Thats one every 5 months Germans tried to kill him. What were they doing? Defending their country or doing the right thing even if it meant initialy a loss for Germany? Think about where you come from, why you are there, and think how differently we can feel over here. :)

Seriously. You have been consistently unpleasant to me for years purely, I assume, because I question the verity of GW. Why should I defend you and the land you inhabit given your extremely unpleasant attitude towards me? I cannot comment on all 25 attempts but I do know that at least 12 of the attempts on Hitler by Germans (as opposed to non axis countries) were performed by Germans who had no trouble with the Politics but only with his leadership. von Stauffenberg - probably the most Famous attempt, was not against his policies but his direction/interferance in the way the war was being fought As for defending another country over your own, this is your right as an individual, however this grants the right for your own country to treat you as a traitor and punish you accordingly An i lugh at this sharing accross borders i europe, as this was maily achieved though the use of force

I know. What I was saying is what makes 'sharing across boarders' so evident in Europe is that despite the lines drawn on the map the people who live in that geographical zone share culture across those borders. Look at the language mixing across borders in Europe as an example. Italians who speak Austrian, French who speak Italian. French who speak Catalan, Belgiums who speak Dutch and German. and on and on and on.
