Definitely a good idea. You can't prepare for every scenario, but you might as well try to prepare her for as many as you can.

Yeah, making steering into the skid (which initially feels counterintuitive) an instinct has probably saved my life.

To all of those people who spared some of their valuable time in answering my question yesterday http://www.codeproject.com/Messages/3931206/Giving-a-youngster-encouragement-How.aspx[^] a real big heartfelt thank you to you all. When I showed my daughter the responses with advice that had been given, she was overwhelmed that people actually wanted to help. We went out for a practice again yesterday evening to a quiet industrial estate and did some simple manoeuvres and she thoroughly enjoyed it. Confidence is on its way to being restored! :-D

Sometimes it is nice to see that in some small way something you've said or done has had a positive impact, as an individual or as a group. So, thank you.

It was broke, so I fixed it.

Same here... although my newer car doesn't skid out of control very easily with traction control and all that new fancy technology...

That's great. I'm glad we were able to offer some small help.

The real challenge isn't on strait roads, it's when steering into the skid and staying on the road are mutually contradictory. Unfortunately my score on that front is 0/1. I was going slowly enough the only casualty was the car; while the 20" oak was easily able to keep me from going down a 40' embankment, but climbing the 2' leading up to the tree sideways put the car into a barrel roll and that was that.
