Okay... managed to bag two squirrels... working on a third but not sure why. No one wants to clean them. The missus said "ewww - no"... her mom said the same with out the eww. I refuse to clean them, they don't smell as bad a rabbits but I cant help but look and think "eww a fuzzy tailed rat". I hate the idea of tossing them in the rubish. Not to mention that a third would make for a nice pie - if someone would clean the darn things!!! --------------------------------------------- The greenest grass is NOT on the other side of the fence, its the grass you take care of. Have you watered your lawn lately? - Just remember when you point a finger at someone else, you are only one finger away from making a fist to hit them with! If they don't get the basic research and learning skills down then they'll end up having a very hard life (Either that or they'll become managers) - Micheal P Butler <

If you work harder and smarter, you can also bag the peanuts stored by those two squirrels. Then use the peanuts to hire the missus and her mon to do the cleaning. ;-)

Do you actually eat squirrels? Where I life we don't have many, so I have always had the feeling that people that actually shot them were a bit off. - Anders Money talks, but all mine ever says is "Goodbye!"

Why did you kill them in the first place then?:confused: That's why I ramble so much. If you're short and quotable, there's a much greater danger of ending up in a sig. [Christopher Duncan on how to prevent yourself from ending up in a sig]

are you saying that you don't eat squirrels? It doesn't much matter what type of meat that you eat.. Somesone has to kill it, I just prefere to kill my own (except squirrels). I'll still eat them but it might take a day or two to find someone willing to clean the catch... and I've added two more to it. --------------------------------------------- The greenest grass is NOT on the other side of the fence, its the grass you take care of. Nothing wrong with eating them. Although I prefer they be in pies myself but I reckon some folks eat them elsewise. There is a lot to be gained by shoting your own food, mostly the savings from the market. Sory if you think it "off" and what not. --------------------------------------------- The greenest grass is NOT on the other side of the fence, its the grass you take care of. Protein is protein, wherever you find it. I must say, though, that it makes me a bit sad at times, sitting on the porch after supper, watching the neighborhood children wandering about looking for Fluffy... :wtf: You eat squirrels? What does it taste like? (Please don't tell me it tastes like chicken :P) -- If I had the ability to smooth talk like John Simmons, this post would be less sarcastic and more to the point.

Mel Feik wrote: Somesone has to kill it, Exactly !! There is no way I would actually buy meat in a shop. There are too many reasons not to. I prefer animals bigger than squirrels as overall the economy of scale of work to put them on a plate is better. Since I've never skinned and parted a squirrel, I can't be exact as to how to do it. But I'm sure they are the same as any other small quadruped to process. Never skin and kill fresh as it is too dificult leave at least 12 hrs, and hopefully you bled it on killing. 1. Ring the legs 2. slit from mouth to anus on the underside 3. slit from the ringed legs to the belly 4. Pull the skin of from behind 5. Remove the tail inside-out 6. Stake the skin out to dry. 7 Remove all the gut cavity without breaking it. 8. De-bone the major ones, Depending on how you are gonna cook it 9. Cut it into sections fro servings. 10 Start the fire. :-) Thats less than 3 minutes work if you had a bit of practice . Regardz Colin J Davies
