There are many people alive today because of alcohol! :)

Tobacco and alcohol both affect sperm and egg production. There's some argument about how much alcohol is needed to start impacting egg production but in men alcohol intake results in a rise in estrogen levels which reduces sperm count and it acts as a toxin, killing sperm in the testicles.

I was thinking more of the number impregnations that have occurred as a result of a night on the beer.

Any chance you could keep the mob this time? It's getting full over here. You know, there are 50% more people living here now than when I went to school. Yes, 50% more!

Clearly, they spend too much time being nice to the invisible man in the sky, and not enough time being nice to each other. I have a theory as to why people in our countries aren't that nuts... It's not that we have less religious folk, but that we have enough different KINDS of religious folk, all disagreeing on which deities to worship and rules to follow, that no single religion can assert total control. So it's our division that makes us sane(r), and their unity that makes them crazy.

Interesting. Mind if I add this in my sig?

India[^] - Where women are second class. Somalia[^] - Where religion kills even more people. Egypt[^] - Where even a cartoon mouse is in trouble. What is wrong with these people?

They lack the hypocrisy to call themselves religious and behave as though they aren't.

Religion is a concept used to ward off insanity, and frankly, it doesn't bloody work.

Nope, it's a way to control people, and it works just fine. If the people in control are sane or not is a completely different question...
