I've been holding off posting this for a little while, but now seems appropriate. I've just secured a new position...nothing newsworthy there I hear you say, but wait...the agent who found me the role really REALLY deserves a recommendation. The lady in question is Lois Lavery from Greywood Associates[^] Firstly, I'm not affilliated and do not stand to gain from this recommendation, I simply think that given the "characters" posing as agents in the UK, the good ones should be recognised. Lois in particular (and the colleagues of hers I've dealt with) is without a doubt the best agent I've ever dealt with. She has a few characteristics that seem to be sorely lacking in other agencies: 1. When she says she'll contact, she ACTUALLY DOES at the specified time. 2. If a CV is sent and the client isn't interested....she ACTUALLY lets you know 3. She works hard on ACTUALLY matching people to roles - she's clearly not just a keyword crawler, and seemed to me that she'd taken the time to read my CV and see if I was a fit. 4. She did an excellent job of helping me to prepare for the interview 5. She managed to get me more than I was expecting in the salary negotiations 6. She took the time to follow up once it was all sorted, and in fact I had a call from her just last week to wish me luck All in all, I have been VERY impressed with the way both Lois personally, and the company in general conduct their affairs - she has really restored my faith in agents - and I had a pretty low opinion of some (who I'm SOOOO tempted to name, but should probably not.) In concluion, if you're looking for a job in the UK, I really do suggest investigating Lois Lavery and Greywood associates. You will now be returned to your regularly scheduled cobblers.....

With all the complaining I read here from day to day, it's nice to read about a positive experience for a change! Besides, I firmly believe that public recognition of worthy performance encourages others to set higher standards for their own performance. :-D

      Will Rogers never met me.

Absolutely - that's why I wanted to post... Agents here in the UK really do seem to be one step above pond scum in most cases, so it was like a breath of fresh air to deal with Lois and Greywood.... Definately deserve mentioning....

C# has already designed away most of the tedium of C++.

I hope you realise that you are insulting pond scum a great deal. ;) Glad you found a good agent though, there are a few around and good luck in your new job.
