I didn't think the cow was Holy, am I right? People don't eat them because they are valuable, not because of the spiritual side?

I don't know for sure but one of the gods (Siva) has a cow (Nandi) that he uses as his ride. Nandi is considered as some sort of semi-god too, so that kinda makes all cows holy.

No, it's for religious reasons mostly. Except in Kerala, Goa and maybe West Bengal.

Actually, some of those derivations can be traced back to the 16th century, like "do the needful".

Agreed. I have no instincts when it comes to metric measurements, especially (kilo)grams.

In some official mails (in the US), I still see people use, "please do the required" but this is mostly from HR/Admin staff. So maybe it comes from legal usage.

I have been guilty of that. It took ages to learn how badly you treat your verbs. I would say "I am going to work", but in German it would be "I am to work going". You lot don't deserve to have any Verbs if that is how you are going to treat them! :)

Assuming you mean to say that you are on your way to work (instead of saying you soon intend to start working) it would be "Ich gehe zur Arbeit", translating litterally to "I go (= walk) to work". Driving would be a little different: "Ich fahre zur Arbeit". Both are the present tense. The future tense is what you mean: "Ich werde zur Arbeit gehen" -> "I will to work go". Here the verb winds up at the end of the sentence. Sounds almost like Yoda :)

"Dark the dark side is. Very dark..." - Yoda ---
"Shut up, Yoda, and just make yourself another toast." - Obi Wan Kenobi

I remember most of the conversions, so if I wanted to I could approximate things fairly well after calculating it in my head, but as far as instincts go, the imperial system comes much more naturally to me.

The real sticking point I have with Canadians is the fact that they speak English, but measure distances in Kilometres, which as any fule kno, is quite unacceptable. Even our American Cousins haven't fallen so low as to use a system of measurements invented by post revolutionary unemployed hairdressers.

To be fair I admire Aussies. You have Great Whites Sharks, Box Jellyfish, Black Widows, Salt Water Crocodiles, Blue Ring Octopus, The Brown Snake, Merv Hughes, etc... The Most Dangerous thing we have in this country are Socialists and the Irish. No wonder you lot have a different attitude.

Faarrrrkkkkkkkk off, you take that back! That's Yankee that is, we have the Red Back which is about equivalent to the Yankee Spider thing you mentioned, but then we have the Funnel Web, the deadliest spider in the world.

Now how the hell can you pay out on Merv when there is that complete wanker Warne that you could be paying out on.

That seems to be talking about people that are sexually abused at a young age, I'm talking about you Poms that are shovelling butloads of kids out of very young teenagers. Happens everywhere but seems to be rife in Britain, showed a couple this week, him 29, her 30, daughter 14, grand daughter new born. If the link you provided went further in depth where they weren't talking about sexual abuse, I will still point out that you are pointing out a minority that may or may not have a reason to bitch and moan and fuck up like they have. I'm talking about generic british residents, if they are in the minority then why are my airwaves infested with multiple british programs showing fuckers that won't get a job, bludge off mum and dad and then decide to have kids of their own to make a living?
