Just realized that there is a non-English language section in Code Project (it's the last one in the main menu on the left side). I have never noticed it before, it could have been there a long time. There are currently two items in the section, Chinese topics and Indian topics. Most of Chinese topics are in Mandarin or Cantonese, can't tell. As expected. All Indian topics are in English, which is again hardly suprising. Strangely, Indian section is listed under 'non-English' section. It might be worth changing the title in that menu ...

There are plans for an American Forum there. Also, and highly amusing to me, the Chinese Forum isn't actually used by Chinese people but for people from other nationalities to go there and post in Chinese to each other, probably by the use of Google translate. The irony is that the Chinese Forum is swamped with 'Counterfreit Chinese People'.

And my favourite from today "Contradictions when words unite together" instead of oxymoron :-D

Every man can tell how many goats or sheep he possesses, but not how many friends.

Respected sir, Mr Elston. That is indeed how we orally communicate in our mother-land. Best regards, kind and dear sir. Yours sincerely and truthfully, a humble foreigner.

Yeah it is, just as American English is English too. But the Brits won't accept either of those, and continue to insist that their version is the only version. So the rest of the world just humor them and pretend to agree with that! :-D

Even though the majority of you that have adopted it are actually better at the spelling and the Grammer than a lot of us Brits too.

There is also a cultural difference in regards to humour. The European/American slant (predominantly Anglo-Saxon) leads to a universality in culture, humour, outlook and disposition. (Alas the same cannot be said for spelling!) So whilst the GIT is predominantly English by language, it is not English in interests. (Except for Cricket).

The Canadians are the worst. They haven't figured out yet if they are British or American and so use a mix of both! And try to hide this lack of verbal originality by adding eh to everything. :-D

The real sticking point I have with Canadians is the fact that they speak English, but measure distances in Kilometres, which as any fule kno, is quite unacceptable. Even our American Cousins haven't fallen so low as to use a system of measurements invented by post revolutionary unemployed hairdressers.

The thing about the Chinese section is that five minutes after you post a message, you feel you need to post another one.

That's the problem with all these extra words, you can never tell if you're being insulted or not.
