Most companies don't give feedback. personally I find that impolite. How many companies have you tried? It could take a while, generally I have one interview in 10-15 cases. (I admit I also refuse many interviews from recruitment offices offering me junk jobs) Keep at it, it will come, it is good though that you put yourself in question, that means you want to raise your own qualities and become better.

In the UK it's not unusual for companies to hold interviews just to "dip their toe in the water": see what the job market is doing, assess the quality of candidates, get a measure of pay expectations etc. The thing to do is to not get downhearted. It could be something as simple as that they think you wouldn't "fit" with their coroporate culture (working in a place where you don't fit like that is miserable) it could also be that they already have someone pencilled in for the job and the recruitment exercise is just a formality. The other thing is to remember that interview process is two-way between you and your [prospective] employer. Get feedback each time you get a rejection and work on your "minus" points - even if you disagree with them. At a similar stage in my career to yours I once got rejected from by a startup. They'd hired a consultant developer to assess the candidates for technical ability. When I got the feedback he said to them that "as I worked for Accenture (a large consultancy) I wouldn't be happy working for a small business, despite been the most technically capable for the job". I think the real reason is he wanted to demonstrate making wise choices not just on the basis of technical ability. In the process he gleefully ignored the fact that I'd worked happily as a one-man-IT department in a small company before the move to Accenture. The reasons for rejection can be as simplistic as this!
Sort of a cross between Lawrence of Arabia and Dilbert.[^]

A Dead ringer for Kate Winslett[^]I am totally agree on this point some time i felt that i am good enough to qualify for that job and even interview was great still got the rejection and even i ask fr Feedback at that time they told that we let you know by phone... if phone not come then ask by email... but they r never replying on that emails.... so sometime feel very bad....even I seen sometime in Big Company if any candidate having some good refrence he got selected if he dont have enough knowldge so this is really frustating because after some experience we need some stability in life and if we dont getting enough opportunity then its very frustating.....sometime I feel that now i dont want to do the job and want to leave the IT field....but suddenly second thing come in mind that then what else thing I can Do... Because IT is my Love from Start....its about Passion... but those passion without opportunity or chance never came out....and Due to this sometime I realising that day by day Due to tension my anger is becoming high and not able to recalled few conceot which I know.. :(

I can't say that I understand your reply, but if what I understand is that you are only talking about a single company, then I think you need to prepare yourself - even the likes of me (and I am a one-of-a-kind, top notch , demon devloper) sometimes get turned down for several jobs - it takes time and patience for you to find the right company and for them to find you. So be patient. you have a job, learn what you can, attend user groups if there are any, get to meet people, write reviews, blogs, develop your own software, have fun, and keep your eyes open for vacancies. And keep asking for feedback

I got my first job because I networked with the top guys in the company. I found that when you impress the upper level IT management that you get a really nice edge in the interview process. Call it cheating if you want, but I got hired almost on the spot. The same rule still applies. The trick is talk to people get real person to person connections, that will open the door for you. Once you are in there you then have to be very confident. Remember you are there because you are an experienced developer, show them why you are the best. The most important thing to remember is like anything most of getting hired is in your mind and when you believe you can do it you have subtle differences about you that make the difference. Remember you make your own luck. And remember for every job you get you will have applied to atleast 20.
