It's a frivolous subject, but a damn fine demonstration on how we can enhance the presentation of information. A while ago I saw a presentation on Google tech talk (I think) of a guy who has written a program that you feed databases and random facts, then use those to generate animated infographics. For example, it shows you how the distribution of wealth evolves over time (as a shape), while at the same time showing a red dot that represents the crime rate (Y axis) vs the population density (X axis). It really shows how silly it is to have all these expensive study bureaus contracting for businesses and governments, while you can simply replace them with relatively simple software and click around for a few minutes to get all the intuition about the subject you need. I mean come on, it's just statistics... it's not going to get more accurate than what the computer shows you.

I completely agree. I mean computers, databases, and software is so advanced, but the interpretation and analysis of the information that can be presented is lacking. I could spend hours on sites like this, on any subject matter. Beautifully presented.

I didn't know you could do that. I think all information needs to presented to high ranking policy makers in this fashion. It's mind blowing.
