I'm not trying to sound flippant here, but the first thing you should have done is find some documentation and resources, there are plenty of them, and thoroughly read them. You are not doing yourself or your company any favors by trying to steps and jump in without a more complete understanding. I've seen lots of time and money wasted and projects and technology canceled because it was not understood.
