Post-xmas party
-
It's 7.10am GMT, and I've been in the office for 45 mins already, and its the day after my office xmas party. :omg: Though admittedly, I did stay in a hotel near the office last night/this morning. Fortunately everyone was really well behaved even if the bar did close at 1am. :-D Any other CPians had a xmas party yet? Regards Barry

Next Thursday, really looking forward to it. Haven't had a good office party for a couple of years. Think I'll be taking the morning off ;-) Michael Fat bottomed girls You make the rockin' world go round -- Queen

Barry Lapthorn wrote: Fortunately everyone was really well behaved What kind of office party involves well behaved people? Goes totally against the whole point of an office party :-D Barry Lapthorn wrote: Any other CPians had a xmas party yet? Not yet, but we normally rent a chalet or two about an hour or two outside of Cape Town near the beach and then all get thoroughly wasted around a braai. We include partners in the party because it is amazing to see a different side of your co-workers that only comes out when their partners are around. One technically good but personality-devoid co-worker of mine turns into a totally different person when his girlfriend is around. It is hilarious, you can't believe it is the same person. Oh man I have some great office party stories :-D

This Saturday, there's a party called "Pearl Harbor". It's not really a Xmas party, more like a bunch of stressed out college students getting "bombed" as they say. It's one of the biggest drinking parties of the year. They usually have 8 or 10 kegs and 3 or 4 trash cans full of "punch" along with live bands playing loud music. I can't wait:-D I'll make sure my CP priveledges are revoked until I sober up;P Brad Jennings

How sad. No Christmas party for me this year. I got laid off in May. Maybe I should call everyone and see if they want to get together. How very sad. I guess I have Rodney's party to go to. But it's not the same. That's his party, not mine. Cathy Life's uncertain, have dessert first!

Barry Lapthorn wrote: Any other CPians had a xmas party yet? Nope. For some reason (*cough* liability *cough*) we don't. But next week is "cleanup day", which involves sweeping the papers off your desk into the trash bin, eating 'till you're ready to puke, playing cards, and then heading out to the bars... ;)

Have you had any nibbles, Cathy? I haven't seen you here in so long that I assumed you were happily buried in work and had no time to play. "How many times do I have to flush before you go away?" - Megan Forbes, on Management (12/5/2002)

That sounds like every Friday where I come from. Clearing your desk off on Friday is a sound practice, I think. If anything there was really important, you'll get another memo about it next week. And if it wasn't, it had no business being on your desk in the first place! As for the rest, that's just a normal weekend...:-D "How many times do I have to flush before you go away?" - Megan Forbes, on Management (12/5/2002)

That sounds cool :) We used to have a drinking match with a rival hockey team called the Buggered Boot - we stole it from them in the 40's, and they wanted it back (a football boot), so we challenged them to a drinking game, the rest is history.... :) Regards Barry

The boss did recommend it (what is with bosses who play golf and like strip joints?) but that got voted out when we voted partners in. Probably not a good idea taking your girlfriend to an office party at Teasers.

I don't know if it counts as a Christmas party, but Dave and I have just stumbled back from a party with the guys from dotnetjunkies. Oh man... cheers, Chris Maunder

We had our project team bash last Friday (we hit a pub in Fleet, then moved onto a Chinese Restaurant and finally the Hogshead. It was a huge amount of fun and although I was driving and didn't drink all night I was every bit as merry as the rest of them. Huge fun. :-D The "official" company bash is tonight in at a hotel Basingstoke. I'm not going this year, mainly because considering the announcement at work about my transition was only made a week ago, I don't think they're quite ready to see me in a cocktail dress yet! :-O Next year...
