Adding a new project and wrong Build specs 2010
-
I have a solution with a bunch of projects and I am using TFS (these points come up in a bit). All of the projects are set to build in Debug targetting "Any CPU". All is fine. I add a new project and it defaults to x86. (sometimes the build check box is not even set). Then my main configuration becomes "Mixed". Ok this is real annoying but still not done. I want ALL of my projects targetting the same (in this case "Any CPU"). Well one would think I could go in an add that configuration to that new project I added that defaulted wrong (why didn't it take all the main configuration???). However, you would be wrong. Add New Configuration ---> Can't add because that configuration already exists for this solution. I Know it exists! Why didn't you set the project to use it?!?!!?! Hmmmm... How do I get them all the same. Crap I have to remove my "Any CPU config" and re-add it back in. OK. Delete. Oh TFS you think I am changing stuff... Nope. Just putting it back because the IDE is retarded. Oh thank you for logging I touched everything though. Now my team will come to me when the next thing goes wrong cause they will think/see I made a sweeping change. Lastly, why are you not ALWAYS building my projects. I didn't uncheck it. Why did you. Oh right, you are smarter than me and figure he doesn't really want to build these 12 projects does he.... (my god I have chased my tail on this oh too many times) So whats the deal. Actual Question: Should this just be a Why VS2010 sucks today, or am I forgetting to setup some user config somewhere? Thats it... Its Friday. I'm ticked and done.
Computers have been intelligent for a long time now. It just so happens that the program writers are about as effective as a room full of monkeys trying to crank out a copy of Hamlet.
