Keyhole surgey of shoulder...

I, was suffering from partial left shoulder dislocation, after MRI doctor said, I have torn muscle and need to undergo keyhole surgery.. In medical terms this problem is Hill-sachs lesion... I'm scared !!! I'm 24 now.. Has anyone undergone this surgery.. and your words may boost my confidence for surgery.. :-) :(( :(( :((

When I was in my mid to late 20s I had keyhole surgery on my knee. Before hand the surgeon came in for a chat, took out a marker pen and drew an arrow on y thigh pointing to the knee. I asked if all they did was wheel people in, strip them off and operate at the end of all the arrows. After the operation I was being discharged and the nurse reading the discharge notes said "You've had a left arthroscopy". I interrupted and said "A what?" She said "Arthroscopy, it is what the operation is called". I said "I know that, but it was my right knee." She said "Are you sure?" I said "Fairly sure, it is the right knee that has the big bandage on it". "Oh", she replied, "It says left here". Good luck ;P

Don't worry too much; keyhole surgery is pretty unobtrusive and unlikely to leave much scarring, if any. If it helps I had my left shoulder cut open (i.e. non-keyhole surgery under a local anaesthetic) to remove a lipoma a few weeks ago. I didn't feel a thing; had stitches in for two weeks and then it took about another fortnight to heal fully once they were out. Now all that remains is a small (1.5cm long) scar, and it's barely noticeable. Remember your surgeon will be a professional, and this is what they do every day. :rose:

This is heights.. and I feel that I should inform my surgeon at least 10 times before hand that .. I need a left shoulder arthroscope :-) Thanks for sharing this.. :laugh:

Thanks Anna.. I was little concerned since I'm stuck in lot of assignments and have plans for future .. at least for next 5 years.. :-) Thanks again for boosting my confidence..
