Does seem a bit harsh, didn't see what the original offending post so can't comment on what was actually said but Jimmy has been in good standing for a good while so I doubt this is justified. Perhaps it should be harder to remove a member based on some combination of reputation and age of account so long-established active members get some protection. It seems to me the law of unintended consequences was at at work in this case. You are right though, things are becoming too PC @ CP.

Sorry if I wasn't clear: I agree 100% with everything you said in your OP and above. The comment you quoted was more an opinion that this is an unintended consequence of the much-needed troll-spankifier. Jorgen has suggested tweaking this mechanism in site bugs&sugs, I've replied to his post supporting him. I hope that Jimmy gets reinstated as (now that I know what was said) the spat wasn't ban-worth at all IMO.

If he was removed by some people voting "troll" on the membership page, then I can't help thinking that mechanism needs some work. However, I just checked, and you do need a minimum rep level before you can see the flag - so you can't be kicked of by one idiot and a handful of sock puppets...

I tried with a brand new login (the kitten has shown an interest in computers - indeed, he can find the "delete" key very easily), and couldn't see the "Report" button. I tried with a brand new login (the kitten has shown an interest in computers - indeed, he can find the "delete" key very easily), and couldn't see the "Report" button. What the bloody hell happened there, the guy seems to have had a Sunday brain fart and his profile is removed, c'mon people trashing his message is reasonable, slapping him with a few one votes is justified but removing his profile, he has been around a long time and contributes positively to both the forums and here in the Lounge and you trash him for a single thread! I begin to despair at the, yeah it feels right, the PC attitude that is creeping into CP.

To call the man a troll was totally unjustified he was wrong and should have been downvoted and chastised but to remove his profile. Sad day here at CP! It's not like some other members here don't get a few adult beverages under there belts and make complete asses of themselves, are chastised, messages removed and life goes on. Has it become such a elitist club here that only a few can get away with the BS. The man made a mistake and knowing Jimmy I'd say there's a reason for his one off behavior. I for one say to reinstate him, if he even wants back on. At this point I don't blame him if he doesn't. Said my piece.
