Roaming mobile phone and EM interference
-
My Android phone is 3G/UMTS. Funnily, today it seems my mobile operator has gone for a nap, so my phone is roaming. Nothing to worry about, except that I keep hearing those typical "cellphone" noises in my PC's speakers. It never happened before. Very odd. Is it normal or should I prepare to throw everything away? :-D
If you truly believe you need to pick a mobile phone that "says something" about your personality, don't bother. You don't have a personality. A mental illness, maybe, but not a personality. [Charlie Brooker] ScrewTurn Wiki, Software Localization Tools & Services and My Blog

Firstly, don your TinFoilHelmet to protect yourself from Spurious Emmissions, then put it (carefully) in a lead lined Jiffy bag and post it to me. Quick! Before it explodes!
Real men don't use instructions. They are only the manufacturers opinion on how to put the thing together. Manfred R. Bihy: "Looks as if OP is learning resistant."

Bacon and ketchup are needed as well. - Trollslayer Have a bit more patience with newbies. Of course some of them act dumb - they're often *students*, for heaven's sake - Terry Pratchett

Mine does this [the noises] all the time. I now put my phone on a shelf behind me, and on its side and point it to minimise surface area in view of the speakers. No noise :)

That noise normally happens when using 900MHz frequency (O2 and Vodafone in UK). Annoying but nothing to worry about.
