Toyota Hilux. Top Gear took one and crashed it into a wall, hit it into a tree, dropped a caravan on it, drove it completely into the sea, set fire to it, and placed it on top of a tall building that was then demolished. And still they were able to drive it into the studio! It has also been the vehicle of choice when they drove to the North Pole, and when James May drove into a volcano. They appear to be indestructible.

If you are looking for the most reliable, bomb-proof, unbreakable one, then look at these videos: Google: Top gear tries to destroy a Toyota HiLux[^] Other than that, I would go with the Lamborghini LM002

Did it occur to you to try a website dedicated to motor vehicles?

You forgot that the hilux is also the insurgents first choice the world over. Doesn't matter if it's in Africa with an rpg launcher or the middle east with 20 guys in the back, when they're on tv they're in a hilux

I say any thing that does not have an eight foot long bed is not a real pickup truck. :-D Cannot help on the best of these but I have had luck with Toyota cars being very reliable.

I've never heard of most of them, but I haven't been shopping for a truck in a long time. I've been driving a Nissan Frontier NISMO[^] for 6 years, and it's been the most trouble free vehicle I've ever owned. I just turned 120,000 miles yesterday, and to date I've replaced spark plugs, a fan belt, two shock absorbers and the u-joints. It does have a few remaining problems - the fuel gauge sending unit failed early but it's too hard to reach, and the oil pressure sending unit is stuck, probably due to a loose connector I just haven't got around to finding. Most of those miles have been on paved roads, but probably a third of them have been over extremely nasty dirt roads out here in the Mojave desert. The Ford Ranger I had years ago was the second worst vehicle I've ever owned; first place was a Fiat. The Ford was light in back and slipped constantly on damp pavement, and in the last year I owned it developed engine problems that were dangerous. In fog or rain, the engine stalled every few minutes, and living in the mountains with lots of fog and all winding roads, it was a death trap. During that year, the truck spent a total of 27 days at the dealership - each a separate one day event - and they never solved the problem. They changed every sensor under the hood, the electronic carburetor, and the engine control computer, and each time declared the problem all fixed. The next foggy day, however, I again found myself careening toward a cliff with no steering or brakes. I finally figured out the problem myself, but since I didn't have, and couldn't afford the special tool required to fix it, sold the beast to someone who could. I've never had a Toyota truck, but the Toyota cars I've had were excellent, reliable, pleasant vehicles to own, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy a Toyota truck. The others I know nothing about, but the Mitsubishi Triton sounds suspiciously like a color TV to me. You're on your own there... Good luck! :-D

                  Will Rogers never met me.
