Agent Facebook Team
-
I get emails from time to time from "Agent Facebook Team" with a subject of "Congratulation Get Back to us ASAP" and delete them without opening as they are most likely spam, at best, and, more likely, maleware infested. This morning they changed the subject to "(Definitely Spam?) Congratulation Get Back to us ASAP" Do they really think that including that will get my curiosity up and even open these obviously infected emails? Does anyone else get these "Agent Facebook Team" emails and have they ever opened any out of curiosity. If you were brave enough to do so what do they contain?

I'm on-line therefore I am. JimmyRopesI get heaps of spam that have been styled to look like FB notifications and message alerts. The usual is the underlying urls have nothing to do with FB. Safer to just delete them than wonder what is at the end of the link!

I get FBI notifications, Nigerian Banking notices, etcetera, also. I usually open them to harvest the links to add to my blacklist because they usually contain infected documents which I do not open. For some unknown reason I am really hesitant about these "Agent Facebook Team" ones. Back in the late 1990's I received an email at work which contained an infected image file from a Chinese colleague. We were working on a contract for a large communications company at the time. This was a proof of concept that HTML formatted email could deliver a payload without actually clicking on an infected link or document, as most payloads are delivered. Now that I think about it I can open it in plain text and see for myself what it contains, without any risk of automatically downloading an infected payload. Since I deleted the latest one I will have to wait for another to arrive. I am sure that won't be long since I haven't blacklisted any domains based on previous ones.

I'm on-line therefore I am. JimmyRopesIf your using Thunderbird I know for sure you can set it not to load any external resources, and if it thinks its spam it will only show it as plain text. So you'd be pretty safe to satisfy your curiosity if you did.

I'm on-line therefore I am. JimmyRopesNot from Agent Facebook Team, but I also received emails with subjects containing "(Definitely Spam?)". It made me wonder where it was added, if they would be so stupid to do add it themselves? Never opened it though

I'm on-line therefore I am. JimmyRopesIf you really want to see where these emails lead, set up a virtual machine running xp or something similar and open them in that. Doesn't matter what they try and do then, just delete the virtual hard disk and start again. That's what I do.
Why can't I find a signature that I can stick with? Are they all gone?

I'm on-line therefore I am. JimmyRopesThe "Agent Facebook Team" promotion ended yesterday, I'm sorry to report. It was a good one for a few lucky winners who will never have to work again, but for some reason only a handful of people clicked on the link to become $1,000,000 winners. Facebook had reserved $100,000,000 in prizes, expecting a better response, but only 6 winners followed the instructions. :(
