Windows 7 and Multiple Users
-
I've just got my copy of Win7 Home Premium and got it installed (and put in Service Pack 1 as well). This is probably the first time I'm using a OS with multiple user accounts as I'm setting them up for folks at home. There's one situation I cannot understand (I'm a newbie in multiple accounts so pardon me if this looks silly!) I installed software like google talk into my account (Administrator). Then I created about 2 user accounts in standard mode. I logged into one standard account and was surprised to find that I couldn't see a Google Talk almost anywhere. Could someone tell me a way where I can install software as an administrator and expect them to be available to other users at least through the start menu? I seem to have misunderstood the way multiple accounts work. I used to have only a single account before.

Depends on the software. Some software like 'Google Talk' (i assume) installs to the current user's appdata directory only. Some give an option during install.

Yep, or, as a poor alternative, you can create your own shortcuts by hand if the software doesn't require administrative rights. A candidate for automation? ;)

I see. That's a little bad. Looks like I might have to install them over for each user if they don't give an option to install to one or more users. :S
