Here's what an insane person does. 1. Plan the operation for over nine years and gather hundreds of thousands of dollars for the plan. 2. Visited many countries to seek ammunition and arms for the plan. 3. Prepare a detailed manifesto running thousands of pages. 4. Start a fake farm to procure chemicals to make the explosives. 5. Produce harmless chemicals as part of consignment to avoid suspicion. 6. Post a YouTube video explaing your plan before the attack. 6. Dress as a Police officer before shooting to avoid suspicion and cause maximum casuality. 7. Associate with various hate groups to gain influence. And yes, insane people always do that.

I take some offense to your reply. I have children of my own and love them dearly. Hitler was completely sane. A lot of people tag the word "insane" on to people who perform unspeakable acts in order for them to deal. Therefore, a lot of people would say that Hitler was insane...which he was certainly not.

Sorry if I caused offence, but by my reckoning anyone who thinks it OK to commit either of these kind of atrocities is clearly not sane. I think you may be confusing the legal definition of sanity, which defines if someone may be punished, from the medical one.

If someone kills for financial or similar gain, then I tend to agree - they've made a decision to put that above someone else's life. When someone does it for other reasons, I tend to think they're insane. If someone does it because their dog told them to, obviously barking.
