One of these: Bronze Swimming certificate[^] Probably won't help you get a job, but it's a certificate!

I'm not familiar with the software industry in India, but in North America, certification counts for very little.  What does matter is how you come across in a technical interview and your software engineering experience. Admittedly, my response is based on working at startups and early stage companies for the past dozen years, so your mileage may vary. /ravi

Keep your shirt on.  He was only being funny.  What OG's saying is that certifications don't matter much. /ravi

If you are based in India, you may get more answers if you ask in The General Indian Topics Forum[^]. The overwhelming majority of visitors here are not from the Sub-Continent and would therefore be less able to help.

The quality of your code is your certification. Your ability to learn is your certification. Microsoft cannot bestow these things on you.

Make up your own. Something like CERP3+. Nobody gives a sh!t. Indians are overly impressed with degrees, certifications, etc. I guess it is yet another filter for the lazy recruiter. Of course, it must be said that when the recruiter is overwhelmed with 8 million resumes all saying the same thing (I graduated last week with a B. Tech. and have 3 years experience in Oracle implementation), he has to have some filter. Note that the recruiter is incapable of understanding that when someone is a fulltime student, he is not likely to have accumulated any experience in anything, including learning Computer Science. :|

Replies(about certifications) by Christian Graus I doubt certification means much, especially as there are now websites where you pay, and they take the test in your name... - 2005[^] Sorry, I think it's a total waste of time... - 2006[^] This is why Microsoft certification is a waste of time, and meaningless... - 2006[^] I've totally seen certification centres that will take the test in your name, and guarentee you will pass. How this is of value to anyone, is beyond me. - 2006[^] Certifications are a joke, they are a waste of time. They prove nothing, apart from a willingness to pay for a test over and over, until you pass it. - 2007[^] Yes, it's overpriced. Certification is useless, IMO. Certainly any certification that's free, is useless. - 2007[^] See, this is why I would never bother with MS certifications, or hire anyone who had one, and thought it meant anything. - 2007[^] See, it's because of people like you that certifications are worthless. Just say I had these answers and sent them to you. Do you think
