In 17 days, I will officialy join the 30 club. I already saw some changes on my approach, but I have no idea, what will happen on that day or what the morning will be like the day after. What did you think and how did you feel on your 30th birthday and the next morning? And I don't want to know about those who can't remember but of more pyhilosophical souls, like, something moved inside of your heart and mind? Tomaz

The only thing that changed for me is that instead of writing surveys that had: Age: < 18 19-25 25-29 30-35 35+ I started writing Age: < 18 19-25 26-30 31-35 36+ ;) cheers, Chris Maunder

The surveys should read as follows: Age:

                • < 18
                • 19-25
                • 25-40
                • 40+

PS: Obviously, this will need to be changed in two years :) Cheers, Tom Archer Author - Inside C#, Visual C++.NET Bible

I'm seeing the last days of 29 myself. The only thing that is keeping me from going completely insane about it is the fact that I'm pregnant. We'll get through it somehow, as long as our co-workers don't find out. I have enough call signs as it is.

Heh, I started going grey at 25ish. Getting old doesn't bother me at all. I have already lived some of my dreams so there aren't any regrets. Now 40 may be a different story. :) Tim Smith I'm going to patent thought. I have yet to see any prior art.

Tomaz

The only viable alternative to getting older is dying. I'm sure Paul will tell me I am in denial also, but it didn't feel much different to me. That was until three months later, I was playing juggling a soccer ball with my younger cousins at Thanksgiving. In addition to the fact they had a lot more energy, I was catching the ball on my foot (just like 50 million times before) and I tore a ligament in my leg. :(( Maybe after a year of being 30, I will agree with Paul that I was just in denial. Congratulations! Yours is the day after mine and, coincidentally, I'll be 0x30 too! If yours is like mine was, the next day will feel exactly the same as the day before, except perhaps with a hangover. Arbitrary markers like '30' or '40' and on down the line have no meaning. You are as old, or as young as you choose to be. Hopefully, as the years pass you'll gain some wisdom, but there's no guarantee of that. Still, it's worth striving for. As time passes, too, you'll find that the burning issues that got you all fired up emotionally in your childhood take on a new perspective, and the battles that are important enough to fight will become fewer. Your energies will be more effectively focused on the things that really matter, not squandered on trivia. Another change is that you come to realize at last that you are not indestructible, and that your time here is limited, though no one knows how long he/she really has left. Each day then becomes something to savor, and to spend wisely on the things that are truly important to you. Your patience with people who want to suck up your time with petty demands and favors will fade and you'll gradually shed them from your life. As I said, this won't happen because you're suddenly 30 - it is a gradual process that begins at the end of childhood, and that occurs somewhere around 30 years of age, depending on experience. The best has just begun - make the most of it and enjoy a quality life! "How many times do I have to flush before you go away?" - Megan Forbes, on Management (12/5/2002)

The only thing that changed for me is that instead of writing surveys that had: Age: < 18 19-25 25-29 30-35 35+ I started writing Age: < 18 19-25 26-30 31-35 36+ ;) cheers, Chris Maunder

I'm still waiting for the one that reads: Age: <18 19 - 29 30 - 60 61 - 80 COBOL programmer "How many times do I have to flush before you go away?" - Megan Forbes, on Management (12/5/2002)

Tomaz
