Being jewish is not a question of ethnicity. One can join the jewih faith from whatever background, and what of the Ethiopian jews or the Arabic jews? They are a different ethnicity. See, the argument on ethnicity fails because religion is not a physical condition but a choice.

As any Jew will tell you, being Jewish is a question of ethnicity. Yes, anyone can join the Jewish faith after instruction but they are not considered Jews by the rest of the community.

So jews from the Levant do not consider non Levantine jews as jews? How very odd. Of course being semitic has nothing to do with jews, Arabs are semitic too, so are the Maltese funnily enough.

This[^] is deemed acceptable. A catholic priest committing adultary and being held to blackmail by a small boy. but This[^] is deemed offensive, a Jewish father taking pride in his child's business skills? I get 160 down points for that? Crock of shit. It is not the points, it is the hysterical hypocrites that complain. Is there faith so weak they cannot allow a sense of humour? Gutless wankers.

Ah, Dave. :sigh: There are A LOT of self righteous members here. I have done a splendid job so far, pissing each one of them off. They have less than ZERO sense of humor, wit, or intelligence. It is a no win battle, for both sides. You should not be surprised that you received so many downvotes. With that said, I usually agree with your religious and political views. I'm probably one of the few here that would have the balls to openly say that. I gave you a five...just because. ;)

Why the hell do you care what some conceited, narrow minded, bible, torah, koran (what ever other books other religions use) thumping arsehole has to say or think. In my opinion, the best way to handle them is to ignore them.

Hi DD, I see you've been downvoted by some heavy weight - as my 5+ just made a tiny difference. If it's any consolation - I've had similar experiences on a number of occasions lately. It seems we have a dyslectic member, as he appearantly is unable to put his name behind his down votes, so I just call him "spineless"

Thanks. I do not care about a persons Colour, Ethnicity, Nationality, Sex, Gender, Sexuality, Orientation or Physical and Mental disabilities. These are things they can do little about, so should be accepted for what they are. But Religion, Politics, Fashion and Musical Taste are free for all to abuse for they are all choices.

It was just the annoyance that one can abuse the catholics but not the jews. (Personally I would abuse them all, and islamists, buddhists, pagans, shintos, hindus, sikhs, and even godless atheists like me)

Indeed it may, but the preferences change due to underlying mental, psychiatric or chemical changes within the individual, not merely as a free choice. Their behaviour may be enforced to conform to a societal norm, but this does not descry the internal condition of the individual.

Whilst I was surprised at what you said I didn't down vote you - I would have said so had I done so. If the joke had been a jewish joke to begin with fine, but you went ahead and tried to turn it into a rather sour stereotype as if to say the first joke got it wrong and I'm pretty sure you knew what you were doing (you proclaim great intelligence so it couldn't have been a mistake - you meant what you said). I don't think you're an anti-semite (though it's not the first time you've done this then proclaimed that some of your best friends are jewish, so to speak) but that was a tad dumb and then to moan about it when you have 19*5 votes. I may not have appreciated it but it looks like plenty of others did - I only got one 5 for my post so to be whinging now is a little ott, don't you think? The other point here is that a catholic priest commiting adultary is why the joke is funny. Finally, the father takes his son to church for the punchline. Don't get many jews in the confessional. Ever.

Mar, it wasn't the downvotes, I have had enough of them not to care, it was the hypocrisy that I was reported as being abusive. My point is that it seems ok to mock the catholics but not the jews. Strange indeed. Here, Let me explain by using this drawing of mohammed 0-<-<
