My first Tea
-
I made my own Tera today morning. Made two glasses - one for my friend and one for me :-) I felt really cool. This was the first one I ever made in my life. The algorithm involved is really simple to be frank. But the margin for error is not much. You gotta boil water, add tea powder, stir a bit, pour milk, add sugar, stir again. That's all. But it felt damn good :-) I am now a cook I guess. I also bopiled milk and added corn flakes for me and my friend. So essentially I made a full breakfast. Cool, eh? Nish :-)

Nishant S wrote: You gotta boil water, add tea powder [:omg:], stir a bit, pour milk, add sugar, stir again Where I live, that is: a) the sloppy method "hope noone notices" boil water add tea bag to cup / can add hot water wait 3-5 minutes remove tea bag* don't mind the bland taste b) "tea like it was intended to be" start "boil water" thread take sieve (cotton or one-way paper, make sure there's plenty of room to expand) add tea leaves to sieve (nothing smaller than Broken, and please no Ceylon/Assam mix) add sieve with tea leaves to cup or can add boiling water (not just hot, boiling - unless it's green tea) wait 3-5 minutes move the sieve now & then, so the tea leaves don't clump together that much NO LONGER THAN FIVE (unless it's a FF darjeeling, but this shouldn't go longer than 4 anyway) take out the sieve in case of paper, make sure you don't drip all the tea on the way to the bio bin (leaves nasty stains iesp. if it's an Assam) in case of cotton, ask someone to clean the sieve for you. It's no fun really. c) "tea-pro" delay application of cotton sieve until after the "wait 3-5 minutes". (If you have no sieve, good leaves will sink to the bottom after 3-4 minutes - separate them anyway!) d) "tea-green" as said, no boiling water, but ca. 90°, "blanch" it first, (i.e. throw away the first charge). You can sue the tea leaves for additional 2-3 times Yep, plenty room for error, that's for sure ;) grats for your first breakfast, anyway..
*) It has been pointed out, that, in germany, to correctly dispose a tea bag, you have to first separate it into it's components: paper bag, tea powder mud, thread, clip, and label. Then you can start to argue: label goes into paper recyling. tea mud goes into bio bin. Now it gets tricky: paper bag could go into bio (for it's stae of pre-processing an the type of paper), or paper recycling. The latter is more according to the label, but the state of the material makes it somewhat of an uneasy decision. Thread can be argued between bio (it should decompose eventually, unless the maker sscrewed up), or remains. Clip tends to go into "remains", or "metal" if you're a real recycling fetishist.

Once I was old enough to switch the kettle on my folks told me to make my own tea. Nishant S wrote: tea powder  :omg: :wtf: :(( :~ X| :suss: You still have not made tea then. Tea powder is not tea. Go back to cooking school young man! :-D Nishant S wrote: I also bopiled milk and added corn flakes for me and my friend Contrary to the others I also like warm milk with my corn flakes.
