Happened to a guy I knoew who offered some of his sons friends a lift. THe police came round his place a few days later...

        Sounds like New Jersey.

Unreported are the hundreds of people who are helped. That's not news worthy.

People just don't want to get involved. They leave that to others.

The difficult we do right away... ...the impossible takes slightly longer.

Similar thing happened to me in London in 1967. I tripped and hit the pavement hard. Nobody who witnessed the event took any interest. As I lay there stunned, people were just stepping over me. Cities have always been like this, low on compassion. [Edit: I was a respectably dressed business type in those days - not some old wino. :-D ]

Always get a seat to myself on public transport. (Although my sporadic recitals from the Book of Revelations in faux-Geordie probably help too).

And neither should they be. Fortunately the press at least have some moral decency left and DO see that leaving a child unconcious on the ground IS newsworthy. Perhaps it will shock some reality into us.
