(Hope the title already repels all that don't like to hear people talking about their cats - like me usually) When I got home from work yesterday, my cat already waited at the stairs, lagging one leg behind, moaning loudly at each step. Wasn't sure first because she's regulary moaning when I come home late (she was strolling since midnight before), and all cats I know tend to "assymetrically" climb stairs now and then. Feeling up the leg didn't reveal anything, she didn't even complain except at the toes - which she doesn't like to be touched much anyway. Called mum (*after* feeding the cat some fresh meat - otherwise mum would have come around immediately to take care of that ), then the vet, but as it was after-hours and didn't look that serious, we agreed that I visit today in the morning. Called the office in the morning, that I'll be late, forced my cat into the box, took a cab to the vet. Nothing to be found after 2 X-rays and 15 min feeling up her leg and hips. Basically, "Let her rest, don't let her stroll outside, and come back in a week if it doesn't get better". ($50 + $5 cab) Called the office, taking a day off to do a lil' bit of cat care today. For my cat: being limp, being stuffed into a box, being taken around by car, being forced out of the box, analyzed, anaesthetic (sp?), ...... waking up. The last one is the most painful, for both the cat andthe one who watches (I don't want to keep her in the box, it would be probably easier for me and less dangerous for the cat, but I don't like it). I think it's one of the more painful sights: watching a cat trying to get from A to B, tumbing, crawling, falling, meowing - but not giving up. She now basically hides under the desk in the other room (dark, protected, cozy). I go over to her now and then, abnd some milk and another ortion of fresh meat made her friend with me again. Still, she's limp (she stopped trying to walk on the paw after the narc, and now does the ass-tap-limp), and doesn't really know WTF happened to her. This post serves no other purpose than to tell it here (as it moves me, and I somehow feel oblieged to tell YOU), and to have it told so I don't bore stiff all my friends. Peter

Animals can fake injuries to get attention, so don't rule that out. --Mike-- If it doesn't move and it should: WD-40. Yeah, once seen a strolling dog that was just perfect at that. But she's behaving too irritatd as well, and she's tumbling even when I don't look (just hear her)

Man, you are a serious cat person. Even though I am a dog person, I hope the cat gets better, or stops faking it. peterchen wrote: Called the office, taking a day off to do a lil' bit of cat care today. You took a whole day off work to tend your cat? Amazing, well done. I would warrant very few people would do that for their partner, never mind a cat.

I guess it depends on the state of your partner - You can expect a cat to be very scared and confused after being through what you cat has been through and probably has no idea that what you were doing was beneficial for her, whereas you'd expect an ill human to be clear minded enough to understand that you haven't dragged them to the doctor, then left them alone as some kind of cruel twisted punishment, and wouldn't worry that you'd have to search the entire house when you got home, only to find her cowering in a dark cozy corner somewhere -- Help me! I'm turning into a grapefruit!
