on another note, how do you figure the equivalent wattage for an incandescent light bulb to an LED light bulb?

I paid $38 per bulb, so just shy of $27000. But with savings of about $2000 per month, at todays rates, the payback is about 13 months.

We're recycling marketing requirements documents as toilet paper. At least that way they get one good use out of the paper.

Same here and this always amuses me because I fail to see any use of this policy. The updates can be pushed during the working hours. So I started to turn off my PC after work until I finally got a memo from the infrastructure department that I’m not supposed to turn off the PC, just to restart. I can understand wasting the power, but only if all our electricity is coming from nuclear power plants and renewable sources. But this is not the case, because IIRC apart from France, there is no other industrial country getting most of its electricity in a “green” way. We are stealing from our children.

One place I worked did company wide hard drive backups every night. Other than that I can't really think of a reason to leave the machine on.

I don't have a link, but I thought the LED lights were 5 years? We've started switching to them in my building.

My company forced us all to take a week off during winter and we had to use our vacation time. They said this was so they could save energy for a week.

I used to partake in that savings at HP too. (I assume that is where you are, as that is the only company I know who does that.)
