I'm basically trying to find the ceapest way of having a dual monitor system. I have a workstation and a server. I am going to buy a PCI graphics card for the workstation. I want to use the server's LCD monitor for the second display with a VGA switch to allow me to still use the LCD monitor on my server when I need to maintain it. Sounds easy, but can I find a bleeding 2-way VGA switch anywhere on the net??? They are either the stupid "Use 4 keyboards to control 1 PC" or the fat server farm ones that are £300 and could power NASA from the amount of electricity used for the LEDs. Does anyone know of a simple iccle box with a nice switch that will allow two cables to go from the two PC's and out to one monitor short of me making my own? Also, preferable one from a trusted UK source. I don't wanna have to pay rediculous shipping charges to get it here from Taiwan or something. Thanks ins advance, Nonny

We brought out this new and very similar version of our expensive software because the old version was......old....It's a good enough excuse for Microsoft so its fine for us.

Look up nVidia on the net, they are a card manufacturer. I've got an nVidia GFORCE 2 MX/MX 400. Its got a standard VGA output a TV out and a DVI out. I don't have an LCD so I'm assuming that the DVI is what you need for the LCD. Now, there are two standard monitors on my system. With the card I recieved a DVI to VGA converter. It's about an inch long and plugs into the DVI, my monitor plugs into this adapter. Not sure if you're going to find anything with out this adapter anyway. Go here[^] and do a search in the left hand pane. :) If it ain't broke, fix it till it is

Depends how often you do it though. I just got a second monitor (yesterday?) and I'm loving it. :-D

Look for a "Black Box" they make some great switch-boxes. And trust me, there's a LOT of difference on switch-boxes, too many of them makes some kinda noice/shadows on your monitor. - Anders Money talks, but all mine ever says is "Goodbye!"

Just bought a LinkSys 2-port ProConnect (standard VGA, PS/2 ports) for £45. It is a really nice little unit (tiny!), well built, very well implemented, good image quality, no probs with mice etc. Well worth the money, and alot better than the 3x more expensive Belkin unit that PCWorld were trying to flog me. I'm very impressed with it :) Just hit the Ctrl key twice to flip between machines! (I know you don't need the keyboard+mice, the unit can of course just handle video) bought mine from: www.dabs.com[^] (UK based, as I'm sure you know) http://www.linksys.com/products/product.asp?grid=36&scid=45&prid=134[^] James

Go to Micro Direct (http://www.microdirect.co.uk[^]). They do a 2 port KVM switch (MRI) for £32 + VAT. Just don't plug in the keyboard and mouse. Elaine (fluffy tigress emoticon) The tigress is here :D
