The firewall I use is also able to kill popups. This freeware firewall is Outpost, from Agnitum[^]

I second Rickard's recommendation. I use AdSubtract's predecessor, interMute, and it's awesome. --Mike-- If it doesn't move and it should: WD-40. If it moves and it shouldn't: duct tape. 1ClickPicGrabber - Grab & organize pictures from your favorite web pages, with 1 click! My really out-of-date homepage Sonork-100.19012 Acid_Helm

IMHO a firewall is always useful even if software. My computer is hit by connection requests on average 10 times per minute. Port scans aren't so often, just 1 or 2 per day.

The best popup killer if your right hand and your trusty rodent. If a window pops up that you are not expecting simply right-click-close it form the task bar immeadiately. After about an hour you will do this without even thinking about it, and you don't need to clutter up your system with more useless junk.

Of course, this becomes more difficult when using that nice taskbar grouping feature in WinXP... At one point, i had it down to a quick Alt+Tab, Ctrl+F4, but now most popups actually pop-under, and then show themselves when they've loaded. :(

The best popup killer if your right hand and your trusty rodent. If a window pops up that you are not expecting simply right-click-close it form the task bar immeadiately. After about an hour you will do this without even thinking about it, and you don't need to clutter up your system with more useless junk.
